As mentioned in a previous post, I have really been enjoying Dina Wakley and her freedom in art journaling. I have been spending a lot of time with her and Julie Fei-Fan Blazer on-line, in books and through videos to learn how to use all the stencils that I could not resist purchasing throughout the years more effectively. They are both very accomplished artists with their uses of stencils and other mark-making techniques.
Of particular interest to me lately has been one of Dina’s videos Art Journal Stencils and Masks with Dina Wakley and Amy Jones available here. I learn by imitation and I have spent a LOT of time trying to recreate some of the ideas in this video in some of my own bound books. Below show a couple of the pages I’ve created using one techniques in the video:
I used the same technique for both pages but because of my inability to master the technique effectively in the first one, it looks a LOT different in theory from the one below it. I really like this technique. I’m sure I will be using it in the future as well. Thanks, Dina, for sharing your vast knowledge of all things art so the people like me might learn and enjoy such fun things!
If you haven’t already, you should check out her blog at http://dinastamps.typepad.com. It is a VAST wealth of creative inspiration!
