This week I had a lot of catching up to do at the house and several things planned away from home. It’s been tough getting any time to be “arty” the last several days! This week’s My Journal Monday was mostly playing with some new art supplies and a little letter tracing–a very cathartic activity indeed! 🙂
I ordered some of Lindy’s Stamp Gang spray inks. They come as a spray bottle with some magic powder inside. You follow the directions of adding some warm water, stirring, waiting and shaking to complete the makeup process. Here are the three colors I used this week:
From left to right, they are Treasure Island Aqua, Bells of Ireland Green and Royal Peacock Fire. I used the Stencil Girl Products’ StencilClub (StencilGirl StencilClub) stencil set from November that was designed by Seth Apter to create the pages that you see below:
Unfortunately you cannot see the Royal Peacock Fire in this spread. It is an iridescent that shimmers pastel blue’ish aqua and gold in the right light. I’m sure it would show up most splendidly on black–which gives me an idea… I was wanting to add a face to this in the upper middle but didn’t have time before having to make this post. Maybe I will add the face and try the other idea that just hit me…hmmmmmmm….. This was created in my Canson 7″x10″ Mixed Media spiral ring journal. I scanned both pages and then combined them in another program so you could see the how the whole spread looked together.
I am also posting this on:
- Creative Every Day
- Paint Party Friday
- Let’s Play! (3/15/2016)
If you’d like to participate in My Journal Monday, please click the link text below to take you to the link-up site and add a direct link to your page there. Any media/technique is fine. I hope that you have a great, arty week! (I am currently working on getting my blog moved off of WordPress.com to a .org site so hopefully I will have a direct list link in my blog soon instead of this intermediary link platform. I can hardly wait!)
OH–and just in case you were wondering (my close friends say that I use to many “big” words–this is for them…)–
• CATHARTIC (adjective)
The adjective CATHARTIC has 3 senses:
1. emotionally purging
2. emotionally purging (of e.g. art)
3. strongly laxative
Familiarity information: CATHARTIC used as an adjective is uncommon. [<==And why does this fact not surprise me? LOL]
Wonderful spread…so true!! I love big words….keep them coming!! All the best on transferring over!
Hugs Giggles
Thanks, Giggles! Still working on completing the platform move. The guy doing it is pretty slow. I think I might not have made the best choice. Oh well. It is moving along and all the parts and pieces seem to be migrating properly so no real complaints. I will be SO happy to be able to do links directly on my posts rather than a third party handling on a second page. I think that discourages participation and what is the point if no one finds it fun or wants to participate? We’ll see if it changes when I make the switch. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. You are always so positive and encouraging!
Love the shimmer of some of these sprays, you can detect it a bit. Nice stencil lettering, or did you freehand it. Bold and graphic. xox
I like your 2 pager! Nice color choices, too. Plus, those spray inks look interesting.
Thanks, Rosey! I updated the spread this week with some black on the page so now you can see the iridescent spray, too. Decided to go with a lot of journaling (“writing my story”) rather than any other elements on the page. I think it finished well. 🙂
LOL@cathartic. I was gone a week then had the kiddo part of spring break. I’m toast. I did do a little art each day though.
Good for you! When the 10 YO grand comes to play, I’m normally whipped and retire to the sofa upon departure! LOL What a trooper you are to “press thru” and get some things done! 🙂
I like the new colors!
