I have participated in several blog challenges or participation posts on several other blogs. I thought it might be fun to try one myself. In some of my research in finding a good “linky” tool, I discovered that the WordPress.com platform does not support linky code. Therefore, you have to do a “link to a linky” site outside of the blog page to host a blog linkup in their program. In any event, I thought it might be worth it to try hosting one anyway.
Well, here it is Monday again. Last week I posted some backgrounds/brush cleanings that I thought I might use for some journal pages later. This week I used one of them and made a 2-page spread. My intention was to finish it and get it posted before the Journal52 challenge expired, but alas, that did not happen. I finished the spread yesterday and I thought I would share it with you today. Now, if you don’t know by now, I am not a very skilled sketch artist. Not at all. But for some reason I decided that I might try drawing and painting a tree that reflected the autumn that we all are feeling in the air recently. The Week 40 theme for Journal52 last week was trees so that all seemed to fit. Below is what the finished product looks like.
It does look a lot like a colored topiary but it was fun and I love the colors. And I like the quote, too. But what I am most happy with are the little floating leaves. They came out even better than I had hoped. A great way to start my week. 🙂
If you’d like to participate, please click the link text below to take you to the link-up site and add a direct link to your page there. (Any media/technique is fine–no tags or cards please.) I hope that you have a great, arty week!
Oh I love the flying leaves too! The tree looks great! We are having a flying leaf day today!
Thanks, Suz!
The link tool isn’t working at all this week. It is saying WordPress does not allow java script and you could probably remedy this by paying for your own domain. Something to that effect.
But here is my link

Thanks for the heads-up, Suz! I had a typo in my link. (It is a bit messy to have to work with WP like this.) I was able to post your link so you are posted and live and hopefully all the links will work properly from here on out.
I am working on getting off of WP.com but the hosting company is being a bear right now–it is long story. If it doesn’t all get straight soon I shall be starting over with ANOTHER web host company. This blogging stuff is a LOT of work!! LOL! 🙂
I know! I used to do tutorials on a blog. Thanks for fixing my link!
Oh–P.S.–your journal page is lovely, by the way! The faces are awesome. I see it may be related to Journal52’s magic theme, maybe? The colors are fabulous.
Thank you, thank you! I think some themes react differently. I know I used to make a few backgrounds and had to learn a little html and not everyone got it right or included other options so that could be correct.
Hi there! Although I do not do an art journal, I do blog about art each week. I love the journal idea though–I’ll have to look into it. Thanks! This is fun.
So awesome that you stopped by, Dea! Let me know if I can help you in any way. It IS fun! That’s why those of us who art journal do it as often as we can. 🙂
