As I mentioned on my last post, I have signed up for a new class with Traci Bautista, “FLORAL delight,” and I love it!  I have only been through 2 of the 6 lessons and I have learned a lot already.  One of the things that we have done is actually do some color mixing and then use the color swatch samplers that we create to create floral designs.  The second part of this portion of the class is to experiment with our brushes using the paint colors that we mix from our palette to play and create floral and “greenery” shapes. This has been the most challenging part of the course for me thus far.  The color mixing has been great fun but to be honest, I was a bit intimidated by the thought of using brush shapes I never really use to create designs that I didn’t think “I” could ever create myself.  I finally gave in and tried and found out that I could actually do it!  I am so excited!  I’m sure you can figure out which one I did first and then the other two–done several days later with the less familiar brush shapes–that I think are much better when I finally gave in and did the lesson I most feared.  I am going to re-post a couple of the color charts from the last post so you can see with all three floral painting play pages how the colors translated into the painted objects.

All the colors are Golden acrylic colors.  The first chart used the three colors Red Oxide, Naples Yellow Hue and Turquois (Phthalo).
