Alaya Art is sponsoring 29 Faces in September 2015. Here is entry–No. 17 (of 29).
I think the antibiotic is helping me to crawl slowly out of my funk…I really enjoyed sketching this very serious lady tonight. I’m thankful that I don’t think that she appears to be quite as “sad” some of the others! LOL!
A little watercolor was added to accentuate her eyes and lips. A white Uniball Signo and a white water-based Sharpie marker were used to get parts of the eyes and a few highlights just a little whiter. I have been using them along and along in almost all my drawings to help with the eye color and a few other area highlights (lips, eyelids, etc.). The graphite pencil sketch and light watercolor scheme is becoming one of my favorite go-to portrait medium combinations. 🙂
Good to hear that you’re feeling better!
Yes, she doesn’t look sad, a bit tired maybe, I believe it’s because of the long lasting flu, but she seems to be recovering already.
Yes! Thank you, Susu! Maybe she is a bit tired… maybe I’m channeling myself in my portraits…LOL! 🙂
