Well, here it is Monday again already. This is what is on my desk this week in my journal:
Obviously a work in progress but I’m pretty pleased with it already. This past week I have been “out of pocket” due to a very intense week at work but all that is over–and I slept most of the weekend away…much needed and well deserved… The rest of the work year should be much less stressful! This journal spread is slowly getting me back in focus and I’m enjoying the process once again. 🙂

Glad you got some rest. I took a long nap myself. This is really lovely just as it is. I get to this point sometimes and do some journaling and sometimes I don’t do anything else to it for a long time. Lately I have been going back and adding to pages.
I have a place that I want to take this one. I just hope I can get it to where I envisioned it being. I just drew the flower on it this morning before I scanned it and left for work. I think it will be much like this in the end with a large area of “big letter” journaling in the open area to the left. I worked on it for three hours to get it to this point–I’m not a very fast worker!
Oh but it’s gorgeous!
You’re so sweet! Thank you! 🙂
I like your soft color palette, Jill! What kind of paper are you using?
This was done in my Bee Paper journal. It is part of their professional series and is spiral bound. They call it a sketch book but it has 93-lb. paper and is suitable for dry AND wet media. This page has a layer of gesso, collage (adhered with the gesso), watered-down acrylic paints, Neocolor II crayons and water and stenciled acrylic paint. I plan on adding more Neocolor II crayons, paint and acrylic markers before I am done. The pages in this journal are some of the best that I’ve found for mixed media. Oh, and it is a 9″x12″ size but I have smaller ones that behave just as well–like the 6″x9″ I used for my watercolor sketch that I posted last week (http://jillholmes.me/2015/10/20/t-is-for-trying/). 🙂
Thanks Jill! I have this journal and I love it! Will try adding a layer of gesso first for more stability. ?
