I have signed up for a new class with Traci Bautista, “FLORAL delight,” and I love it!  I have only been through 2 of the 6 lessons and I have learned a lot already.  One of the things that we have done is actually do some color mixing and then use the color swatch samplers that we create to create floral designs.  I have found that I LOVE doing the color mixing “charts” and seeing how all the different colors interact and react with one another.  Some colors have multiple primary color bases in them so they can react differently when combined with a “second” color–which actually would be a third color at that point and can result in a neutral gray or brown.  I don’t mind the “muddy” earthy colors.  They are actually my favorite color base, truth be known.  🙂

I wanted to show you a couple of my color mixing charts.  All the colors are Golden acrylic colors.  The first chart used the three colors Red Oxide, Naples Yellow Hue and Turquois (Phthalo).

My second chart used Quinacridone Red, Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue and Cerulean Blue Deep.

You should try it yourself.  It is great fun!
