Alaya Art sponsored 29 Faces in September 2015. I didn’t get all of my 29 faces completed during the challenge period but I am going to continue with them until I get them all done. It has helped develop my skills so much that I want to make sure I make it through all 29! Also, Kim Dellow over on her blog has a fun thing going called Art It Friday – Show Your Face. During the month of November Kim is challenging us to do a portrait in the style of another known artist. I just received Karen O’Brien’s new book, Imaginary Creatures, this week and I enjoyed it so much that I thought I might attempt to imitate her style using one of her pieces of work that she displayed in her book. Here is Face No. 23:
I am also linking this post to:
- Julie Fei-Fan Balzer’s regular Friday post Art Journal Everyday post which she usually posts regularly every Friday
- Paint Party Friday

Thank you, Jeannette! I’m sorry it took me so long to respond. Life has a way of getting in the way of other things… Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. 🙂
I love this! When I saw the thumbnail I really wanted to see more! I really like the shape and how it fills the space. The crown is gorgeous and the eyes are so special! I don’t know the work of the artist you’ve been inspired by, but I really would like to look up her work now! I’m off to Google her! xx
